Ingredients

  • 200 g (1½ cups) Flour
  • 125 g Butter
  • 100 g (½ cup) Brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • a pinch Salt
  • 200 g Mixed chocolate
  • optional Chopped almonds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the room-temperature butter with the brown sugar until fully combined.
  2. In the same bowl, add a pinch of salt, the vanilla, and the egg, then mix until combined.
  3. In the same bowl, add the flour, baking powder, and cocoa in batches, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  4. In the same bowl, add the chocolate pieces or any of the mentioned nuts, then mix lightly only, without overworking the dough.
  5. Cover the dough in the bowl, then place it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  6. After removing the dough from the refrigerator, divide it into pieces weighing approximately 40 to 50 g each.
  7. Shape each piece on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. You may fill it with a piece of chocolate or leave it unfilled.
  8. Leave space between the pieces on the tray, as the dough will spread during baking.
  9. Preheat the oven using top and bottom heat at 200 degrees for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 170 degrees.
  10. Place the tray on the middle rack and bake for approximately 13 to 15 minutes.
  11. After removing the cookies from the oven, leave them to cool slightly before serving.
