
Honeycomb Bread
Soft, fluffy bread shaped like a honeycomb.
A soft, airy bread shaped like a honeycomb.
Like pull-apart bread rolls.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups (300 ml) Milk
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Yeast
- 5 cups (600 g) Flour
- 1/2 cup (50 g) Cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 Egg whites
- 1 tea cup (50 ml) Vegetable oil
- 50 g Butter
- 300 g Kashkaval cheese
- 200 g Mortadella
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the warm milk with the sugar and yeast until dissolved, then leave the mixture until the yeast activates.
- In another bowl, mix the flour with the cornstarch and salt.
- Add the milk and yeast mixture to the bowl containing the dry ingredients.
- Add the egg whites and vegetable oil to the bowl.
- Knead the ingredients well until the dough comes together.
- Add the butter to the dough and knead until it is absorbed.
- Place the dough in a warm oven to rise until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into pieces.
- Roll out each piece of dough.
- Place the kashkaval cheese and mortadella filling inside the dough.
- Shape the pieces into balls and arrange them again in the baking tray.
- Leave the pieces in the tray to rise a second time.
- Turn on the oven from both the top and bottom, then place the tray in the oven on a slightly lower rack.
- Once the pieces begin to color, remove the tray from the oven.
- Brush the top with butter after baking.
