
Oat Bread
A simple bread made with oats or oat flour.
Like a basic homemade loaf with oats.
Good for breakfast or sandwiches and usually straightforward to bake.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Flaxseed
- optional Nigella seeds
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the yeast with 1 cup of water and leave it until it activates.
- In a grinder or suitable food processor, grind the oats.
- In the mixing bowl, add the ground oats, whole-wheat flour, salt, flaxseed, and nigella seeds, if using.
- In the mixing bowl, add the yeast water first, then gradually add the water while mixing until a cohesive dough forms.
- In the mixing bowl, knead the dough until ready, then leave it to rest for about 10 minutes.
- On the work surface, divide the dough into small pieces and larger pieces, according to the desired size.
- On a surface dusted with farikha flour, fine semolina, or regular flour if unavailable, roll the pieces out with a rolling pin into round shapes of even thickness.
- On a baking tray, place the shaped loaves and leave them to rest for another 10 minutes.
- On a hot skillet, cook the loaves one at a time.
- In the skillet, spray the loaves with water while cooking so that the bread takes on a golden color.
- In the skillet, flip the loaf after it has taken on some color, then press it lightly on both sides until cooked through.
