
Ox Tongue
A dish prepared from ox tongue.
A preparation made from cow tongue.
Like a braised meat offal dish.
Ingredients
- Ox tongue
- Bay leaves
- Cinnamon stick
- Cloves
- Cardamom
- Lemon juice
- Salt
- 6 cloves 6 garlic cloves
- Half an onion Half an onion
- Butter
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
- Vinegar
- Water
- Bell pepper / chili pepper
- Coriander
- a little Onion
- Parsley
- Tomato
Instructions
- Soak the ox tongue in a bowl with water, salt, and vinegar before boiling.
- Place the ox tongue in a pressure cooker with bay leaves, a cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, half an onion, salt, and pepper. Add bell pepper to the pressure cooker if desired.
- Close the pressure cooker and cook the ox tongue in it for 1 1/2 hours.
- Check whether the ox tongue is cooked after boiling by removing the skin from one spot; if the skin comes away easily on its own, it is cooked.
- Peel the ox tongue after boiling.
- After boiling, leave the ox tongue to cool slightly on a board or work surface, then cut it into slices.
- Heat a frying pan over the heat and add the butter.
- Add the sliced garlic to the pan before the butter melts and burns, and stir the garlic in the pan until it takes on a light color.
- Add a pinch of salt and the lemon juice to the pan with the garlic and butter.
- Coriander can be added to the pan with the garlic and lemon juice if desired.
- Lower the heat under the pan after adding the lemon juice.
- Serve the ox tongue hot after pouring the lemon-and-garlic topping over it.
- The ox tongue can be served another way with onion and parsley.
- The ox tongue can be served another way with the juice of one lemon, tomato, and a little onion.
