Prophetic Talbeenah

A traditional talbeenah porridge made with barley or barley flour.

Cook slowly until the mixture turns smooth and creamy.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons barley flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • honey
  • nuts, for garnish
  • cinnamon
  • dates, for garnish
  • a little black seed
  • half water
  • date molasses

Instructions

  1. Put 500 ml milk and 4 tablespoons barley flour in a saucepan, then mix them together while cold before turning on the heat.
  2. Stir the milk and barley flour mixture in the saucepan until the flour has completely dissolved in the milk.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat, then continue stirring the mixture in the saucepan constantly until it thickens.
  4. Sweeten the talbeenah in the saucepan with honey once it is ready.
  5. Pour the talbeenah into a serving dish, then garnish the serving dish with nuts and pieces of dates.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon over the top of the serving dish, then drizzle a little honey over the top.
